News: Silent March Planned For Steen's Funeral

Press Release From SCLC

A march is called to coincide with the funeral of Victor Steen, the 17-year-old Brownsville resident who was tasered, run over and killed by Pensacola
police officer Jerald Ard.

The community of Pensacola will join Steens family on Saturday Oct. 17 at 9 a.m. at Sluggos Vegetarian Restaurant (2413 W.

Cervantes St.).  The march will begin at the scene of the incident and will end at Greater Little Rock Baptist Church (901 N. A St.) for Steens funeral at 11 a.m.

Diverse groups of citizens have come together to make sure that Officer Ard and the Pensacola Police Department are both held accountable.  Negligence, lack of coherent policy, and disregard for community needs have yet again led to a needless death and countless lives changed for the worse.

The citizens of Pensacola are coming together to make it known that police brutality and abuse of power are not acceptable and will not be tolerated.
