May the road rise... Virginia McNelis Chapleau and Keith Lamonte Bell Jr., were married on Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Saint Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Pensacola with Monsignor John Thomas Cassidy the Celebrant.

Parents of  the bride are Dr. Charles Emory Chapleau II. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Keith Lamothe Bell. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Madison Langley Bell Jr. and Mrs. Arthur Joseph Gomila.

Maids of Honor were Camille Cunningham Chapleau and Kathryn LeAnn Chapleau. Bridesmaids were Erin Rae Biller, Katherine Elizabeth Wolfe. Program attendants were Lauren Elizabeth McGeorge, Mrs. Lacy Harrell Phillips and Meredith Newton Willingham.

Keith Bell, father of the groom, served as best man, with groomsmen Christopher O'Conner Bell, Kevin Arthur Bell, Charles Emory Chapleau III, Michael Keith Davidson, Judson Burke Day, Daxton Clark Gill, Dax Thomas Hale, Akio Marcum Ito and Christopher Martin Lewis, with ushers Richard Watts Bond, Charles Fleetwood James IV and Michael Patrick O'Sullivan.

On the arm of her father, Virginia came down the aisle in a formal bridal ensemble of white all-over embroidery tapered to a train. Her cloud of veiling was emphasized with a half-moon hairpiece smooth on her hair.

Her bouquet was in pink and white roses, repeated in the bouquets of the ladies of the wedding. Further repetitions of these floral colors graced the altar in memory of Virginia's and Keith's grandparents, Harmon Charles Agnew, Virginia Cunningham Chapleau, Oscar Polk Chapleau, Arthur Joseph Gomila, Dr. Richard Patrick McNelis and Virginia Brown McNelis.

Readings of Liturgy were spoken by Cheryl Cope of New York, and by Ali Stitle of Chicago. A Prayer was read by C.J. Hale of Navarre.

For the ceremonial music Sharon Levay was organist and Jeanne Barber-Morris the flutist. Gerald Stroupe was vocal soloist. Florist was Ellen Beauchamp.

Mary Kay Chapleau, Virginia's mother, wore a boat-necked formal gown, slimly fitted in soft-crushed, navy silk to the floor. Jeanne Bell, Keith's mother, chose a floor-length gown of cream bodice and A-line navy skirt, with a crush of cream fabric emphasizing the waist.

The reception was held at the Charles Chapleau home, just across Bayshore Road from the Church lands in a spreading turn-of-the-20th-centry home. Seamarge Circle was welcoming from the front lawn with spread tables and music, through the house and veranda to the gardern. A white tent near Pensacola Bay concentrated "Party" with a big band and dance floor edged with round tables.

Virginia and Keith danced together and made the parings, turning to the fathers and mothers. Davind Penniman's serpentine table through the garden offered a buffet supper inset with rose bouquets.

Handsome were the up-and-coming young people of both families: Camille and Kathryn Chapleau at the altar as co-maids of honor to their sister; Langely and Clay Bell Vannoy, youth athletic contenders, with grandparents Bill and Helen Bell approaching their 60th anniversary.

It was gratifying to hear vocalist Gerald Stroupe amid his international musical career, having returned home for this occasion. It brought joy to see Lacy Harrell Philips home to assist in the wedding of Virginia and Keith. After a wedding trip, Virginia and Keith, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Lamothe Bell, jr. will be at home, 1312 E. Avery St. Pensacola, Fla., 32503.
