There's no place like home. After working as a project manager in Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Atlanta, Saranne Soule couldn't resist the opportunity to come back to her native Pensacola. When Ginger Bender Stationery owner Ginger Bender decided to sell her established boutique, she asked long-time family friend Saranne Soule if she new anyone who would be interested. "I asked her, what about me?" Soule says. "Everything just fell into place. I love retail and I love Pensacola."

In June, Saranne and her sister Margherita bought Ginger Bender and renamed their new venture Sassafras Stationery and Gifts. While Saranne tends to the day-to-day business, Margherita manages Sassafras's website from her home in California. Though the store's high-quality merchandise and strong customer service ethic hasn't changed, Saranne has made some small changes. She has expanded the children's gifts and accessories section and hopes to have an e-commerce system in place by the beginning of next year.

Sassafras offers a wide selection of high-quality personalized stationery and unique gifts for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions from vendors like Crane & Co., William Arthur and Julie Holcomb Printers.

"I am so happy right now," Soule says. "This is such a natural fit for me."
