Best of the Coast 2008

Well, at least one election is complete.

Don't be fooled by the politics of duplication.

There is only one "Best Of" list that actually reflects the opinions of the electorate. This one.

Over 7,500 IN readers voted in the Tenth Annual Best of the Coast survey. You, our most devoted and  selective readers, voted for your favorite places to work, shop, dine and have fun. Let's face it. Pensacola loves lists and Best of the Coast is the mother of all lists.

Of course, there can't be an election without some controversy. We received hundreds of emails questioning the birth certificates for certain nominees. Others claimed that those on the ballot didn't have the experience to be Best of the Coast winners.

Fortunately, most Best of the Coast voting was done online, so we had no problems with hanging chads. However, we did have a few ambitious businesses once again try to stuff the ballot box with dozens of paper ballots marked solely for them. All of the surveys were in the same handwriting and received on the same day. As always, these ballots weren't counted.

There was a question about earmarks. All winners and top three finishers are listed, but only those businesses that purchased ads have write-ups. After all, we do have bills to pay.
